A Web Domain For Persona 3 Remake Was Registered Last Month

The rumours about a possible Persona 3 Remake are heating up, as fans notice that a website for the game was set up last month. We have no idea if the domain was registered by Atlus, but it coincides with the release of footage alleged to be from the rumoured remake, suggesting that it’s deep in development.

The website, P3RE.JP, doesn’t currently lead to anything interesting. However, it does show that someone has registered the domain and is holding onto it. Further investigations found that it was registered in March of this year, getting fans’ hopes up that an announcement is coming soon.

While on its own a site domain being taken doesn’t mean much about anything, it only adds to the growing pile of evidence that the Persona 3 Remake is real. In fact, some new developments regarding the footage we got yesterday have only further pointed to its validity.

At the end of the video, we switch to a clip from Jet Set Radio instead. This is noteworthy, as a new Jet Set Radio game was leaked by Bloomberg last year. So, if the Jet Set Radio footage is real, then that might mean the Persona 3 images were also legitimate.

While site domains can be faked by fans to trick others into believing a game is in development when it’s not, this has proven reliable for Persona news in the past. Persona 5 Royal and Persona 5 Strikers were inadvertently leaked after web domains were set up for them prior to their announcement. It’s possible that the same has happened here.

Now, if someone is faking the whole thing, they’ve gone to an awful amount of effort. Not only would they have had to register the site domain, they’d also have to find a way to create convincingly fake gameplay for a remake that does not exist. Initially, some wondered if the footage was actually from a mod for another game, or was even AI-generated, but nothing has come from these theories so far.

It’s also worth noting that it wasn’t just Persona and Jet Set Radio in the leak. We also got a look at what appears to be footage from a beta build of Sonic Frontiers – and it looked great. It even featured unused enemy designs that would only appear in the art book, furthering the belief that the leak is real.

Sega and Atlus are yet to comment on the rumours. TheGamer has contacted Sega for comment, but has not received a response at the time of writing.
