Beyond the Ice Palace Gets a Castlevania-Inspired Sequel 36 Years Later on PS5

36 years ago, all the way back in 1988, a side-scrolling action platformer called Beyond the Ice Palace released for ancient platforms like the Amiga, Atari ST, and Commodore 64. The game didn’t really have much of an impact at the time, but that hasn’t stopped developer Storybird Studio from making a sequel, almost four decades later.

That’s right, Beyond the Ice Palace 2 is happening, and it looks great in its reveal trailer, which you can watch above. Taking clear inspiration from the Castlevania series, it’s got some cool art direction and the animations are satisfyingly smooth. It’s coming to PS5 “soon”.
