Blizzard Cancels BlizzCon for 2024 But Promises Exciting Plans
BlizzCon, an annual event for the gaming community since 2005, showcases Blizzard’s major franchises including Warcraft, StarCraft, Diablo, Hearthstone, Heroes of the Storm, and Overwatch. The convention has become renowned for providing gamers with exclusive previews, game-related announcements, and thrilling tournaments. Additionally, it offers fans a unique opportunity to connect with game developers, enjoy live concerts, and participate in cosplay competitions.
The iconic event has faced several disruptions in recent years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with the 2020 convention being canceled. In 2021, BlizzCon made a return in an online-only format, rebranded as BlizzConline, and was made accessible to everyone for free. The 2022 convention was also canceled amidst a period of legal litigation related to workplace harassment issues faced by Activision Blizzard.
