Can you dye armor in Dragon's Dogma 2?

A big part of RPGs these days that you might not expect is fashion. You get to create your own character, so they should be able to wear clothes of your choosing. Dragon’s Dogma 2 is no different, but if you’re frustrated by your armor colors and want to dye them, I’ve got bad news for you.

You can’t dye armor in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

Some may call me a liar. That’s because when you get to Battahl, at a tavern in Bakbahtal, you can find dyes. These come in a variety of colors. But here’s the thing: those aren’t for your armor.

How to use dyes in Dragon’s Dogma 2

Dyes in Dragon’s Dogma 2 can be bought from a vendor found behind the Rockmouse’s Burrow tavern in Bakbattahl. This is the tavern where you meet Menella for the first time. Each one can be bought for 500 RC. Once they’re in your inventory, you may quickly find that they can’t be used. There are few clues to their immediate purpose.

You need to take all your dye to an appearance vendor or Barbarie. They appear as a pair of sheers on your map, and the nearest one is Mettefere’s Cosmetics further into town.

When you talk to the vendor, you’ll get a message that all your dyes have been handed over. Once again, this can be very confusing, because that’s all the information you are given. However, if you pay for a new hairstyle or body markings, you will find that you can change these to new, brighter, more vibrant colors. These can be found under a new heading when you’re picking a color.

That’s it. That’s what the dyes are for. They cannot be applied to armor. Armor cannot be dyed. But your hair can.
