Fallout 4 Player Creates Blast Radius Board Game In Real Life
A Fallout 4 fan has shared their incredible recreation of the game’s Blast Radius board game in real life. There are plenty of incredible things players can do in Fallout 4, but unfortunately playing Blast Radius isn’t one of them. However, this might be the closest players ever get.
Fallout 4 features plenty of junk items that most players will have easily skipped over during their adventures. However, most actually have a purpose due to the game’s strong crafting system that makes every item count. The Blast Radius board game is one of those items, mostly scattered around Fallout 4‘s Commonwealth as set-dressing to give the world a sense of history and atmosphere. However, this fan was clearly intrigued by the concept, and decided to see if it could become a real thing.
This version of Blast Radius was posted to Reddit by user ypco, who took the artwork presented in-game and turned it into a faithful recreation. It looks like great fun, with the user going as far as to create an entire card set to be used with the game. What makes this all the more impressive is that Fallout 4 never gives a real rule set for the board game, so this Redditor has had to create their own for the purpose of the recreation. They even go on to describe how to play the game in the thread, describing it as similar to Game of Life in terms of mechanics.
Some were so impressed with the creation, that they implied that Bethesda could even license it to the player. While a Fallout board game does already exist from Fantasy Flight, there’s something to be said about the amazing simplicity of Blast Radius, as well as it being completely lore-friendly to the games. Bethesda has partnered with companies to bring game props to life in the past, with Nuka-Cola getting a Jones Soda collaboration back in 2017, so it wouldn’t be a huge surprise if a real version of Blast Radius were to release at some point in the future.
It’s amazing that gamers continue to be influenced by Fallout 4, even eight years after its release. Bethesda games always seem to retain an active player base for many years, with Skyrim‘s incredible modding community a shining example of exactly why this is still the case. With Fallout 5 likely still many years away, hopefully fans continue to play Fallout 4 for many years to come, as Bethesda’s classic still has much to offer gamers.
Fallout 4 is available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions coming in 2023.
