Fallout Player Counts Skyrocket after Amazon Adaptation Drops

Following the incredibly strong launch of Amazon’s critically acclaimed adaptation of Fallout, lapsed fans craving some V.A.T.S. have returned to the series in droves, proving there is still an insatiable demand for the series. According to SteamDB, tens of thousands of players have been drawn back to the Wasteland recently, a notable uptick that coincides with the show’s launch, and we imagine console players are putting up similar numbers.

Fallout 4 was far and away the most popular (interesting considering how many claim to dislike the game), beating out the newer (but multiplayer-focused) Fallout 76 and fan-favourite black sheep Fallout: New Vegas, which is starting to show its age.

It’s hardly a surprise that the success of the Amazon series would have fans wanting to relive the Fallout experience for themselves. Of course, having been acquired by Microsoft, it remains to be seen whether future games in the series will make their way to PlayStation platforms. While somewhat disheartening, current-gen players can at least look forward to the free PS5 version of Fallout 4 when it arrives on 25th April.

I loved Fallout 3, and liked New Vegas but never finished it. I like Fallout 4 as well and ended up earning the platinum trophy despite not liking it nearly as much as 3. I haven’t started the show yet, however, I am hoping they capitalize on this newfound interest and begin working on either Fallout 5 or a current gen remake of Fallout 3 with all the DLCs included which were some of my favorite parts of the game. There are too many good games out there to make me want to revisit 4 with the PS5 update. I’m happy for those that’ll be playing it for the first time with the new update. I surprisingly spent a dozen or so hours building an impenetrable base in 4 and had a ton of fun doing it. That was probably my favorite part of the game. The overall world was missing the spark that 3 had unfortunately.

It’s always baffling how little the mainstream knows about anything. That they need something in their “mainstream medium” to get to know about “there’s a game too”

Anyway, similar to the LoU show, pretty overhyped but ok.
For a “game series” it’s good and all. As a regular show it’s pretty basic and mediocre. Pretty okay, loke hundreds of other shows

played fallout 3 and vegas, and fallout 4 multiple times and still play fallout 76

I was pleased with the show though my issues with it were similar to the last of us lack of monsters and lore changes irked me

shame fallout 3 and fallout new vegas are stuck on poorly performing ps3 versions that are stream only on ps4 and ps5. I play them now on series X which plays them at 4k60

for me it goes

They really dropped the ball with the timing on the PS5 version of Fallout 4. They could’ve been getting money from a $30 PS5 ultimate edition bundle. They’re gonna miss a couple weeks of interest

Fallout vegas “which is starting to show its age.” They are all showing their age. Unfortunately Bethesdas games always looked aged. I loved fallout 3 and skyrim (on the PC not so much consoles.) Oblivion was the better game for me personally. Never watched TLOU series as I had zero interest in the games but I did watch the first 2 episodes of fallout which is great fun and I thought it was pretty authentic and I chuckled at the bobblehead on display in the shop. As much as I loved the fallout games (fallout 2,3 and vegas) I can’t see myself revisiting them. Even with the new ps5 update for fallout 4 I can’t bring myself back to it as I thought it was tedious and almost as sleep inducing as the outer world game.

Fallout 5 will absolutely be on PlayStation. The Triple A exclusive is dead and buried. The most you’ll see is early DLC or exclusive pre-order bonuses.

Enjoying the show alot but i fell off F4 quite fast. I need colour in my games and the drab aesthetic of Fallout mixed with the oldy world stuff doesn’t do it for me at all. The fact sony wont allow the use of assets in their mods is a big downer for me too. Bethesda games always seem dated upon release in certain areas and the character models usually seem like they need a big overhaul, which Sony wont allow but everyone else does 🤷
