Hogwarts Legacy Fans Think Missing Feature is ‘Almost Criminal’

Hogwarts Legacy is still missing a dedicated photo mode, which one fan has described as “almost criminal.” Hogwarts Legacy launched this past February on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X to strong reviews and strong sales. Now that the game has made its way to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms as well, it’s finding itself back in the spotlight.

Hogwarts Legacy‘s debut on PS4 and Xbox One was accompanied by a big update for all versions of the game. This new Hogwarts Legacy update fixed some of the lingering bugs that have been plaguing the game and even added a new arachnophobia mode. Unfortunately, the update did not add a photo mode, which is something that Hogwarts Legacy players have been calling for since the game’s original February launch.

It’s unclear why Hogwarts Legacy doesn’t have a photo mode, and while there are workarounds, nothing beats the convenience of the real thing. Unfortunately, it’s unclear if an official photo mode will ever come to Hogwarts Legacy, much to the disappointment of fans who realize how much potential such a feature would have in the game. After all, Hogwarts Legacy has been noted for its impressive graphics and stunning recreation of Hogwarts castle. A dedicated photo mode could be incredible.

Photo modes in video games sometimes make it possible for players to discover hidden details and other secrets that may have otherwise stayed hidden forever. So beyond the fact that a photo mode would allow for Hogwarts Legacy players to snap impressive shots, it could also let them explore the game world in a way that’s not currently possible in the base game. Hogwarts Legacy‘s massive open world could be hiding all kinds of things that would be easier to discover with a photo mode, so hopefully the feature is added at some point down the line.

Avalanche Software hasn’t revealed what it has planned for future Hogwarts Legacy updates, and it’s unclear if anything as substantial as a dedicated photo mode will actually come to the game. However, we do know that the Nintendo Switch port of Hogwarts Legacy is set to release in July. Since the PS4 and Xbox One ports of Hogwarts Legacy released alongside a new update, it’s not unreasonable to assume that the same could be true for the Switch release. If that’s the case, perhaps photo mode could be bundled in with the bug fixes and other improvements. Fans shouldn’t hold their breath, however.

Hogwarts Legacy is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X with a Switch version dropping July 25.
