How to get Powdermelon and Powdermelon Seeds in Stardew Valley 1.6

Stardew Valley 1.6 introduced four new crops that, unlike most seeds, are not purchasable through Pierre’s General Store. Each item is available in different seasons, with Powdermelon being an exclusive winter crop. Here’s how to find Powdermelon in Stardew Valley.

Where to find Powdermelon seeds in Stardew Valley

In Stardew Valley, you can find Powdermelon seeds by digging grass tufts and artifact spots during Winter. Artifact spots drop artifacts and seeds, while grass spots have a much higher chance of giving seeds. These grass spots look similar to artifact dig spots, except they appear as grass flowing in the wind. You can dig both with a hoe to get one to two seeds.

Artifact spots look like worms poking out of the ground, while grass tufts look like grass blowing in the wind. They appear randomly around the map, dropping one of the four new seed types. The grass spots pictured above both dropped Powdermelon seeds, while another grass tuft north of my farm that I found on the same day had a carrot seed.

Once you have your Powdermelon seeds, you can grow them after planting and watering the crop for seven in-game days during Winter. After seven days, they’ll mature, allowing you to harvest them. Like most crops in Stardew Valley, you can use Powdermelon in a seed maker to produce more seeds, giving you a renewable way to get additional melons without running back to the forest or the wild. Alternatively, you can sell them for a base value of 60 gold, with farming level buffs and quality increasing this further.
