This mode is more like a divisional-separated game mode. This allows you to play against other online opponents from a similar division to maintain fairness. However, the more you win, the further up you can go in the divisions to compete with much tougher online players.

- The search option will find you an opponent with a similar star level to the teams and also a similar division to yours.
- A win grants you 3 points, a draw gets you 1 point while losing a match gets you no points.

- Then, accumulate enough points to get promoted to the higher division or to win the division title itself.

What most people would argue is the most fun mode of the game. Ultimate team allows you to create your own squad, which can be a combination of different players from different backgrounds. There are several modes that you can play in the ultimate team.
- Rivals: It is a division-based mode where you can earn points for winning matches, to get to a higher division, and to get better rewards.
- Champions: To first qualify for the Fifa Ultimate Team champ play-offs, you need to collect 1250 qualification points from playing division rivals. Then you have to win 4 out of the 10 playoff matches to be eligible to play the 20 final Weekend League matches.

- Online Friendlies: You can play a Friendly against a friend or an online opponent in this mode. There are 10 base modes: Classic Match, Max Chemistry, King of The Hill, Survival, Long Range, No Rules, Swaps, Header and Volleys, Mystery Ball, and Public Co-Op.
The Fifa Ultimate Team Champion and rival mode both reward you the higher you score on the leaderboard with player packs and some player picks that can pack you some amazing ultimate team players for your team.
There is also the option to play Co-Op Rivals, Friendlies, or Squad battles. However, only one of the ultimate teams of you or your friend is to be chosen to play against your opponent.
Volta
At first, you are prompted to create your avatar for Volta, which you can choose based solely on preferences. Afterward, you are given skill points to invest in a skill tree that branches to Attacking, Defending, and Midfield. Now, you can distribute these points according to what sort of player you are trying to create.
Afterward, you are given a choice to choose from 4 of these signature abilities:
- Booming Shot: Give a boost to the player’s shooting.
- Overdrive: Give a boost to the player’s speed and pace.
- Enforcer: Give a boost to the player’s tackles.
- Take Flight: Give a boost to the player’s aerial control.
You can play Volta online by playing squads, which join you with three other players to take on a team of 4 online opponents. Or you can play Arcade, in which you can join up to three members to play exclusive multiplayer party games.
Online Friendlies
This mode is more like the kick-off mode. You play against an online friend of yours without the need to play on the same console.
- This mode allows you to play against any of your friends. Even cross-platform, given that you both have added each other on the EA play menu.
- In this mode, you can create a friendly season against your friend.
- Then, send an invite to start the friendly match.
- It will also keep track of your past matches. So you can figure out who is better at the game and start a competition of your own.
My Thoughts
From all the modes mentioned online, Ultimate Team is my favorite to play online as it has a lot of freedom for creating the team. I can also show off and compete against my friends in this mode through friendlies or go against other competitive players around the globe. Furthermore, I can also join in on the fun by playing Ultimate Team Co-Op with my pals.
