Modders Get Grand Theft Auto 5 Running On Nintendo Switch
What you see in the video on top of the page is two minutes of Grand Theft Auto 5 indoor scene running on Switch in handheld mode, no overclock. This quite impressive project is based on the game’s source code which was reportedly leaked last year and is circulating online, despite the measures Rockstar had taken in the past.
There are multiple reasons for a device to struggle running an older game aside from having a weak CPU, and it’d be pointless to deny Switch’s performance is far from ideal with the unstable frame rate, and of course, it’s only an indoor scene.
Back in March, Superstar South announced they are working on an unofficial Grand Theft Auto 5 port on Switch. The anticipation is surely high, however, Rockstar has a history of issuing copyright claims and dealing with leakers and unauthorized projects, so it’s very unlikely the project will see the light.
