No Rest For The Wicked's Curved Perspective Effect Recreated In Godot
Just last Tuesday, No Rest for the Wicked, a much-anticipated new game by Moon Studios launched into Steam Early Access. One of its most prominent features is the Curved World rendering, specifically redesigned for this game to give the player a unique perspective where you can always see so much further into the distance compared to a standard top-down one, and when Gennadiy Korol has shared a beautiful demo of this effect, no wonder it once again became the center of attention.
Game Developer Sam Minton has unveiled his take on this feature, recreated in Godot this time. As the developer explained, it’s a work in progress still facing culling issues, but here’s how it was done with shaders:
