Overwatch 2 Players Are Concerned About the Size of Lifeweaver’s Hitbox

Blizzard recently revealed the next post-launch hero that will be added to Overwatch 2, Lifeweaver, with some fans raising concerns about the incoming hero’s larger hitbox in relation to his smaller health pool. Lifeweaver will be joining Overwatch 2 on April 11 and is the first support character to be added to the game since its release in October.

Overwatch 2 has 36 different characters currently, with each being categorized as either a tank, support, or healer. The first character to be introduced since launch was Ramattra, who was added to the roster back in December 2022. Lifeweaver is a support hero who utilizes various nature-themed abilities to aid his team in battle. While most healers in Overwatch 2 have smaller hitboxes to accommodate their lower health values, Lifeweaver’s larger hitbox and tall stature have some players concerned about how the character will function when facing off against offensive Overwatch 2 heroes like Cassidy.

One fan, Lil_SmileFPT, took to Reddit to share a post about Lifeweaver’s large hitbox and lower health pool, comparing the incoming hero’s health to other Overwatch 2 characters like Ramattra and Bastion. The post highlights the hitboxes of various Overwatch 2 characters and compares their health/armor totals against the upcoming support hero. One notable takeaway from Lil_SmileFPT’s post is that Lifeweaver features a similarly sized hitbox to Ramattra, but has less than half of his health.

Lil_SmileFPT’s post has received over 3,500 upvotes in less than 24 hours, showcasing the concern of the Overwatch 2 community. One commenter notes that they “feel like Widow is going to be a nightmare for him he is so tall and probably won’t be able to hide behind anything.” Lil_SmileFPT also shared their concern in response, stating that “Snipers and flankers are going to give him an extremely bad time. Especially Sombra as she counters a lot of his abilities.” While some players are excited about the upcoming Overwatch 2 hero, others are clearly worried about how Lifeweaver will play. Lifeweaver’s various support abilities were showcased in a gameplay trailer that Blizzard released earlier this week. While the hero features healing mechanics, Lifeweaver also has several abilities that extend beyond basic healing.

In addition to being the first support hero to be added to Overwatch 2 after the game’s initial launch, Lifeweaver will be the title’s ninth support character. The support role roster in Overwatch 2 is notably lacking in numbers currently, as it has the lowest amount of characters when compared to the other tank and damage classes. While Lifeweaver does have some unique abilities, the character’s hitbox and taller stature could potentially hurt how the hero performs in online matches.

Overwatch 2 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
