Pokemon Fan Reimagines Pidgeot As A Legendary

Evolutionary lines three Pokemon long have existed since the very beginning of the series and unless you include mega-evolved forms, The Pokemon Company has never ventured beyond that. That hasn’t stopped fans from imagining what that might look like though, and even though its creator hasn’t specified whether their redesigned legendary Pidgeot is what they think would happen if the Pokemon were to evolve again, it would certainly fit the bill.
MrFrtc posted their fully animated creation on the Pokemon subreddit, labeling it a legendary version of the fully evolved gen one Pokemon, Pidgeot. While pulling a lot of elements from the official Pidgeot, the legendary recreation has a long golden tail trailing from its head with a glowing purple orb at the end of it. One of its eyebrows is glowing too, making it look like a blue flame with a purple hue, and the same has been applied to the tips of its wings.
As noted, certain Pokemon do technically have a fourth evolutionary stage through their mega forms. Legendary Pidgeot’s creator has revealed their Pokemon has pulled inspiration from Mega Pidgeot which is plain to see. Mega Pidgeot also has a tail connected to the back of its head but it’s pink instead of gold, and the tips of its wings are blue but don’t glow like the legendary version.
The replies to MrFrtc’s post are heavily in favor of legendary versions of older Pokemon being introduced to the series and the games. Most appear to think it’s an opportunity missed, but there’s no reason why it can’t still be introduced. Pokemon don’t even need to have a new evolutionary stage necessarily. There can just be legendary versions of pre-existing Pokemon hidden away in regions we are yet to discover and explore.
While Pidgeot might not be officially reimagined as a legendary Pokemon anytime soon, it was thrust back into the spotlight for the anime’s finale. Ash was reunited with the Pidgeot that was a part of his team all the way back in season one, capping off an emotional run of reunions as the world bid farewell to the trainer. In other Pokemon news, Nintendo confirmed Pokemon Stadium will finally be added to its NSO library on April 12.
