Pokemon Go Fennekin Community Day: Exclusive move, Shiny & bonuses (May 2023) – Dexerto

The headliner for Pokemon Go’s May 2023 Community Day is Fennekin! Here’s everything you need to know including event times, exclusive moves, Shiny availability, and a list of previous Community Day stars.

The Community Day is a monthly event in Pokemon Go that puts the focus on a specific Pokemon, with boosted wild spawns, increased Shiny chances, exclusive moves when evolved, and bonuses like extended Incense duration.

Community Days now last for three hours and they always take place on the weekend, so most players can get involved. They’re some of the most popular events in the Pokemon Go Calendar alongside Spotlight Hours.

Community Days are some of the most popular events in Pokemon Go.

Pokemon Go May Community Day date & time

The next Pokemon Go Community Day event will take place on Sunday, May 21, 2023, and will run from 2PM to 5PM in each trainer’s local time.

The headliner for the May 2023 Community Day is Fennekin.

Boosted Shiny odds for Fennekin

During the May Community Day, you’ll have an increased chance of encountering Shiny Fennekin either in the wild or as a reward for Research tasks.

Pokemon Go Fennekin Community Day exclusive move

Players who evolve a Briaxen during event hours (or up to five hours after) will get a Delphox that knows the Fire-Type Charged Attack Blast Burn.

Starting at the beginning of the event, Delphox will also be able to learn Fire Type Charged Attack Mystical Fire.

Pokemon Go Fennekin Community Day bonuses

The following bonuses will be in effect during May Community Day event hours:

  • 2× Candy for catching Pokemon.
  • 3x Stardust for catching Pokemon
  • 2× chance for Trainers level 31 and up to receive Candy XL from catching Pokémon.
  • Lure Modules and Incense activated during the event will last for three hours.
  • Trades made during the event will require 50% less stardust
  • One additional Special Trade can be made for a maximum of two for the day.
  • Take a few snapshots during Community Day for a surprise!

Fennekin appears in 4-Star Raids after Community Day ends

Although the May Community Day ends at 5 PM, trainers will be able to enjoy special 4-Star Raid Battles with Braixen until 10 PM.

If you win one of these Raid Battles, additional Fennekin will appear around the Gym that hosted the Raid for the next 30 minutes.

Be aware that these bonus 4-Star Raid Battles cannot be accessed with Remote Raid Passes, so you’ll need to attend them in person.

Pokemon Go players will need a lot of Pokeballs to catch plenty of Fennekin.

How to prepare for Pokemon Go Fennekin Community Day

If you’re going to take part in a Community Day, there are a few things you can do to prepare and get the most out of the event:

  • Purchase an Incense to use on the day as they will last longer than usual.
  • Save any Lure Modules you have as they will last for three hours during the event.
  • Stock up on lots of Ultra Balls so you can catch plenty of the headline Pokemon.
  • Transfer any unwanted Pokemon in advance so you’ll have space for all the catching you’ll do.
  • Check the bonuses that run during the event so you can take advantage of them.

There will also be a ticket for the May Community Day Special Research story, Fur and Flames, available to purchase from the in-game shop closer to the event date.

Pokemon Go Fennekin Community Day Timed Research

Timed Research will be available from 2 PM until 5 PM during the Fennekin Community Day.

There will also be a set of event-exclusive Field Research tasks with rewards including Stardust, Ultra Balls, and more.

You may notice that every December headliner is missing from this list. That’s because, in December, Niantic traditionally features every Pokemon from the past year as headliners at the same time.

Alongside all of these Community Days, there have been a few Community Day Classics that bring back old headliners. The next one is scheduled for May 29, although the star hasn’t been announced yet.
