When compared to some of their predecessors, Pokemon Scarlet & Violet are a little light on Mythical and Legendary Pokemon at launch.
When compared to most of their predecessors, there really aren’t too many Legendary Pokemon in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, at least not at the time of their release, anyway. None of the series’ pre-existing Mythical and Legendary Pokemon can be caught at launch, meaning that players are limited to just six Legendaries until more are inevitably added. Two of those are version-exclusive Pokemon.
For context, only the first two generations of Pokemon games have introduced fewer Mythical and Legendary Pokemon than Pokemon Scarlet & Violet. If Pokemon Sword & Shield are anything to go by then this will likely change fairly soon, but until it does, those hoping to catch every Legendary Pokemon in Scarlet & Violet shouldn’t have to work too hard in order to do so.
