Resident Evil 4 Remake Fans Think Hunk Is OP In Mercenaries And Best For S++

Resident Evil 4 fans think that Hunk is a little too overpowered in The Mercenaries at launch and is easily the best way to get an S++ rank on the mode’s three different maps.

Capcom isn’t letting the hype for Resident Evil 4’s remake slow down any time soon as it just released an update that adds the fan-favourite Mercenaries mode to the game. The mode is pretty much the same as it was in the original game, only with some character differences. Namely, Ada and Wesker are out (for now), and Luis Sera is in. One character is already proving to be a great selection if you want high scores, though.

Over on the Resident Evil remake subreddit, several Redditors have shared their scores in the mode while using Hunk, and he seems like the easiest way to get S++ right now. Redditor No-Representative117 shared their score on the subreddit and noted that all of the other top scores with a 150 combo were playing as Hunk as well, implying that he’s the top pick right now.

The main reason why Hunk is so much more powerful than Leon, Krauser, and Luis is his neck break attack. While the rest of the cast can unleash a powerful melee attack after they stun enemies by headshotting them, they don’t guarantee a kill – Hunk has a neck break that not only looks awesome but also kills the enemy in one quick hit, allowing them to continue combos faster and not use as much ammo. It even works on bigger enemies, making them a bit of a joke.

That’s if ammo is even a concern for the player, however. Hunk’s special attack briefly gives him infinite ammo for his SMG and makes it so that the player doesn’t have to reload the gun for a little bit, essentially giving them a constant stream of bullets and, more importantly, points. With those two factors in mind, it’s no surprise that players are gravitating towards Hunk right now. It’ll be a wonder if Ada or Wesker can somehow be more powerful.

Although Hunk does seem like the best way to get an S++ rank in the mode currently, it might not just be down to how powerful he is individually. Several Redditors are also reporting that the mode is currently a lot easier than it was in the original game and they’re having no issue getting S++ rank with little difficulty.

It’s not clear what’s changed right now, but one of the factors behind the mode being easier could be because headshots kills now give the player a bit more time. Since you’re almost definitely going to be aiming for the head anyway, this seems like something that players are going to be doing a lot.
