Someone Is Doing A 100km Charity Run As A Stormtrooper At Star Wars Celebration

Someone going by the Running Stormtrooper just suited up for one more mission earlier this week at the highly anticipated Star Wars Celebration which is currently taking place in London, UK. They’ve already been breaking records by raising funds for the Make-A-Wish and Spread-A-Smile charities ever since 2016, but this time around, the Running Stormtrooper will be stepping onto a treadmill, running a staggering 100 kilometers in full armor during the four day event.

The Running Stormtrooper began their journey almost a full decade ago, completing five London Marathons and two Ultra Marathons, running no less than 1,000 miles while in full uniform back in 2020. The runner was even awarded a Guiness World Record for their efforts.

“The World Record breaking Running Stormtrooper has come out of retirement for one last mission: Star Wars Celebration in London where the Trooper will be attempting to run 100 kilometers on a treadmill! That’s over 15 miles a day for all four days,” the website which has been set up to receive donations remarks. “Since 2016, the Stormtrooper has been running for Make-A-Wish and in 2018, discovered Spread-A-Smile. Since then, all money raised has been shared equally between the two wonderful charities.”

The Running Stormtrooper so far has raised an incredible £72,000 for Make-A-Wish and Spread-A-Smile. With their appearance at Star Wars Celebration, there’s a good chance that donations could reach the desired total of £75,000. “So far, £72,000 has been raised including gift aid,” the official website points out. “Can that total pass £75,000 this Celebration?”

Supposing that you’re at Star Wars Celebration this year, the Trooper tromping around on a treadmill is surely a must-see. You can also hear their incredible story about trekking around the world with a set of Stormtrooper armor. “If you’re at Celebration, please come and find out all about this Stormtrooper’s fantastic journey, taking the armor from the UK to the USA and even Afghanistan,” the donations website explains.

Star Wars fans can show their support for the Running Stormtrooper by turning up in person or making a donation to Make-A-Wish and Spread-A-Smile through the Running Stormtrooper’s fundraising page. The goal is currently set at £3,600 and just over 10 percent has already been raised.
