This Procedural Setup Lets You Apply Cracks to 3D Surfaces
Take a look at this fantastic work-in-progress procedural system for applying appealing cracks to 3D surfaces, set up in Substance 3D Painter by Louise “Vipère” Melin, a 3D Material Artist at Adobe.
Described by the author as “both hand-painted and procedural”, the setup employs default Alphas shipped alongside Painter, which it then processes through Slope Blur and Warp, allowing the user to add realistic damages to their models. In the future, the artist plans to share a detailed breakdown of the project and explain how you can recreate the setup yourself and use it for your artistic endeavors.
