What Are You Playing This Weekend? – Issue 521

A big week of new releases featuring Rise of the Ronin, Dragon’s Dogma 2, and more has come to a conclusion. Which of these titles is taking up your time, then?

I’m hoping to sink a decent amount of time into Dragon’s Dogma 2 this weekend, but on top of that, Rise of the Ronin has put me in the mood to play — Ghost of Tsushima.

I’ve fond memories of the grey import days of reading about PC Engine and Mega Drive coin-op ports in C&VG back in 1989 and 1990, but I don’t remember ever seeing Konami’s Arcade Archives Surprise Attack at my local arcade back in the day. Surprise Attack makes me think of a 1990 sci-fi version of Shinobi, or perhaps it’s like Rolling Thunder set on a space station.

I’m back on review, so that will probably take up most of my game time, but Helldivers 2 will likely lure me in for a few games. The shock reveal of flying bugs has me intrigued, and I’ve still got to work my way through the Cutting Edge Warbond. There are still plenty of games I need to catch up on, but I’d be fairly shocked if Arrowhead’s latest didn’t end up my personal GOTY.

I’ll be juggling Persona 3 Reload and Dragon’s Dogma 2, which sounds like an excellent conundrum to have.

I’ve finally finished Dragon’s Dogma 2 so I’m going to celebrate by starting a New Game Plus run of Dragon’s Dogma 2.

I’m knee deep in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, so this weekend will be another trip back to Hawaii for me. Dondoko Island isn’t gonna clean itself up!
