Where to get both On the Transference of Souls Tomes in Dragon's Dogma 2

Do you like forbidden knowledge? Hey, me too! So, if you found On the Transference of Souls Volume 2 in Dragon’s Dogma 2, you might really want to find its twin. That takes us to the Short-Sighted Ambition quest.

Before we go on, I want to tell you that this doesn’t result in you obtaining a badass new spell. If you’re looking for something to rival Meteoron in your arsenal, that’s not what you wind up with. In fact, you don’t even get to touch the first volume of The Transference of Souls.

Instead, this all begins with Isaac, an apothecary from Isaac’s Wares in Bakbattahl. When you meet him, use the Talk option, and he will tell you about his latest business venture and begin Short-Sighted Ambition.

How to complete Short-Sighted Ambition

Short-Sighted Ambition in Dragon’s Dogma 2 starts out simple enough. Isaac has been reading from a forbidden tome, and it has taken a toll on his eyesight. To alleviate this, all he needs from you is a ripened quince.

Quince are found pretty much everywhere in Battahl. They are bushes with bright yellow fruit on them. Once you have one in your inventory, it’s only a matter of time for it to ripen. Just don’t touch it. Leave it there. Wait for a while, and it will ripen. Then, don’t wait any longer. After another few days, the quince will rot, and then it isn’t useful.

Bring the ripened quince to Isaac, and then we’ll finally learn about On the Transferrence of Souls. He’s looking for the other tome, and depending on why you’re looking at this article, you may have it already.

On the Transferrence of Souls 2 is located in Ibrahim’s Scrap Shop in Checkpoint Rest Town. If you don’t have it, you can take an oxcart from Bakbattahl to Checkpoint Rest Town, then make the return trip.

Hand over the tome to Isaac, and he’ll guide you behind the store to his home. There, he’ll read the tome and nuke his family. I’m sorry, but the way it plays out is just so obvious. His family blatantly tries to talk him out of it. Everybody except Isaac could see it from a mile away, hence the name.

Unfortunately, if you can take the forbidden knowledge for yourself, I’ve searched high and low and haven’t found a way to re-obtain the tomes. Worse yet, the reward for this quest is pretty much nil, and Isaac immediately closes up shop, leaving Battahl without an apothecary.
