Fallout 4: How to recharge Fusion Cores
Power Armors are one of the mainstays of the Fallout series, and not just because they look damn cool. These full-body metal armors are one of the most important tools to get you the upper hand against the dangers of the Wasteland, and they run on nuclear power. Let’s learn how to recharge the fusion cores that the armors in Fallout 4 run on in the hopes of not polluting the Wasteland any further.
Interestingly, many players didn’t know that they could recharge the Fusion Cores that Power Armors ran on when Fallout 4 came out. Considering its recent surge in popularity, let’s help the new generation of players attempting to get into the game avoid the hassle of hunting for unnecessary new cores.
Normal places to recharge Fusion Cores in Fallout 4
- Power Armor Stations take care of your armor and your armor’s core as well. You can use them to replenish a core’s lost energy by getting off your armor and then interacting with the station to access the armor’s inner inventory. Select the Fusion Core in your inventory, move it to the station’s inventory, and you’ll begin charging your core. A station can recharge up to 4 cores at once, and the recharging time is relatively fast, but you can always perform a time jump to speed up the process.
- Reactors in nuclear facilities can also charge your Fusion Cores. Place your Fusion Cores to get them charged.
Fastest way to recharge Fusion Cores in Fallout 4
As with all things Bethesda, the fastest way to get something done is to, say, circumvent the game’s rules. There’s nothing wrong with going through the trouble of charging the cores yourself, but you can also get an unwitting NPC to do it for you.
In Sanctuary Hills, you’ll find an NPC named Trashcan Carla. She roams the central area of Sanctuary during the night and will buy your core (before it gets fully depleted). Sell her your core, do a 12-hour time jump, and try to do business with her again. You’ll notice that you can re-buy your once-dead core and that it’s now sitting at 100% charge capacity. She only does one core at a time, and it’ll still come at a small cost, but it’s a pretty good deal.
Trashcan Carla is a terrible name to give someone, so we’ll trust that Carla helps us purely out of the enjoyment she gets from sticking it to the devs. Thanks, Carla!
You can now play Fallout 4 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. You can watch the Fallout TV series on Amazon Prime.
