Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Players Plagued By Strange Error Messages

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor has been receiving negative reviews on Steam for its various issues affecting PC performance. The game currently has a “mostly negative” rating on on the platform, with users highlighting poor frame rates, crashes, bugs, and more. The latest development is the appearance of unusual error messages related to features like digital rights management software and even story elements. These latest problems have been impacting players on PC, but also PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

The publisher behind the game, EA, recently released a statement to current owners, noting on Twitter how Star Wars Jedi: Survivor “isn’t performing to our standards for a percentage of our PC players,” adding that “in particular, those with high-end machines or certain specific configurations” may be the most affected.

“While there is no single, comprehensive solution for PC performance, the team has been working on fixes we believe will improve performance across a spectrum of configurations. We are committed to fixing these issues as soon as possible, but each patch requires significant testing to ensure we don’t introduce new problems. Thanks for understanding and apologies to any of our players experiencing these issues,” the statement concludes. “We will continue to monitor performance across all platforms and share update timings as soon as it is available.”

Some brand new problems with Star Wars Jedi: Survivor have now surfaced, but instead of only affecting players on PC, owners of the game on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S are also facing issues. “Jedi Survivor just threw up an extremely weird error message after I loaded a save,” former journalist Andy Kelly said on Twitter. “Unexpected Error,” the message in question begins. “You seem to have bypassed certain story elements. Continuing to play from this point may encounter issues. If you choose to proceed anyway, loading any future Saves from the Title Screen will give you the option to reload prior to this point.”

While this error message clearly has to do with story elements, others appear to be coming from the installed DRM software. “Jedi Survivor on PC has so many issues,” Alexander Battaglia for example noted on Twitter. “I am doubly happy that it thought my loading up on two different PCs was far too much for its Fisher Price DRM.” The content creator posted a screenshot showing an error message explaining how “too many computers have accessed this account’s version of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor recently. Please try again later.”

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is only the latest in a long line of releases by EA to have been affected by poor performance, especially on PC. The remake of Dead Space was notably marred by stuttering when it launched back in January. In much the same way, players have been complaining about Wild Hearts ever since the game was released in February. When these issues will be resolved remains to be seen.
