Free-to-play RPG Torchlight: Infinite has recently seen a major spike in its player count, thanks to the release of its newest season and anniversary rewards. The long-running Torchlight franchise has seen multiple entries from several different developers, taking a similar top-down action RPG approach to games like Diablo 4 and Last Epoch. The launch of Torchlight: Infinite would even see the franchise shift into a fully free-to-play model to entice more players. Now, the most recent Torchlight is seeing a major jump in its player count.

First fully released in May 2023, Torchlight: Infinite broke new ground with its launch as the first game in the franchise to be available Day 1 on mobile devices. The game would feature several departures from past entries in the franchise, bringing in a new developer with Chinese game studio XD Inc. heading Torchlight: Infinite. Infinite would largely see mixed reviews following its release, with many calling its gameplay loop “repetitive” and criticizing the game’s perks system. Torchlight: Infinite Seeing Player Count Spike on Steam

As reported by PCGamesN, Torchlight: Infinite has recently seen a major increase in its player count on Steam. Popular aggregation website SteamDB showcases a colossal jump in the game’s player count, boasting over 10,000 players at its peak within the last 24 hours. The spike is largely credited to the debut of Torchlight: Infinite‘s newest season, “Whispering Mist,” which added more story content and a new Hero in Cateye Erika. Torchlight: Infinite saw its all-time peak in October 2022, with over 20,000 players following the release of the game’s open beta.

Torchlight: Infinite‘s newfound success comes alongside a plethora of rewards coming for players as part of the game’s first anniversary. Infinite is featuring a login campaign during the anniversary celebration, with daily rewards granting Jagged Primocrysts and Appearance Boon Coupons for Torchlight: Infinite‘s Pactspirit gacha system. XD Inc. is also rolling out several quality-of-life upgrades for Torchlight: Infinite alongside the new season, making changes to the game’s skill bar and progression in the main story. Multiple changes were also made to Torchlight: Infinite‘s endgame content, adding a new mode with “Trial of Divinity.”

Torchlight: Infinite‘s wealth of new content will look to help the game keep up in the tightly competitive dungeon crawler genre. Diablo 4 is set to welcome the game’s fourth competitive season next month, rolling out the Public Test Realm for Season 4 showcasing multiple changes to the game. Games like Last Epoch and the recently released No Rest for the Wicked have also made a major splash within the dungeon crawler space. XD Inc. will look to build on Torchlight: Infinite‘s newfound success to keep up with a growing genre.
